I've had my period for 8 months now, and almost every time I've gotten in, I've tried to get tampons in, but just can't. I've used mirrors, and tried to put a tampon in the place where I see blood coming out of, but usually when that happens the tampon just slides straight past that, to the upper areas thats covered by the skin that covers my vaginal area. I've tried to litest versions of tampax pearl, or tampax carboards, but no luck. Is it possible for my vagina to be too small for tampons? Or just...not suitable? I would stick to pads, but I'm on a swim team that has frequent practices. Any advice for what I can do?

Just relax a bit, sit on the toilet or stand in front of it with a leg on the seat, and again relax, place the tampon tip into your vagina at a slight upward angle and slide the outer tube all the way into your vagina until your fingers are touching your labia, then just slide the inner tube into the outer tube and the tampon will be in your vagina, with the string outside of your vagina, you should not feel the tampon inside of you, and to remove just pull on the string and it will slide right out, DO NOT LEAVE A TAMPON IN FOR OVER 8 HOURS.
Once you get the hang of it you will be giving your teammates lessons too.

I had the same problem. It took me months before I could get a tampon in. Practice when you don't have your period, so it's not so messy. If you need, try some astroglide or KY jelly to ease the tampon in, just for practice. SOmetimes it goes in better when you have one leg propped up on a stool or the toilet seat. and always direct the tampon to the small of your back. Not straight up or foward. It will get easier! You are just too tense now; likely you are afraid that it will hurt (which was my problem). For my first few practice tries, the lubricant defiinitely helped.

i completely understand, ive had some difficulties with tampons in the past. no vagina should be too small for tampons (according to my gyn). i first tried the kind with applicators and it didnt work. ive had better success with the ones without applicators b/c, they're smaller and you have much more control about where it goes (just make sure to put it in far enough). additionally, if you lick (i know, kinda gross) the tip of the tampon before applying it gives just a bit more lubrication to help with insertion.
good luck!

You are just too tense.Try using a tampon(slim) with a plastic applicator.Lay on your bed or the floor and try really relaxing then slide it in.It is very common to tense when you first start using tampons. All vaginas are elastic so dont worry about that.
