Ideally, a clean sponge. But, really who has time and money for that? Use clean finger tips to dot on, but use your fourth finger (weakest finger) to blend...then you are not stretching your skin.

Liquid: Use your fingers to blend it in. The warmth from the fingers will help blend it in.
Powder: Sponge or brush (sponge preferably.)

Sponge, preferably a clean one each time.

you can really use either. just make sure you don't overdo it and set it with powder. that is the key to creating a "canvass" to begin your makeup routine.

always match your foundation to your jawline. pay special attention to the hue of the foundation. it should disappear completely into your own skin tone.

sponges are good, but they absorb the makeup. i personally use my hand to apply for economical reasons. there is really no wrong way as long as you apply it evenly and blend very well.

you should invest in a good quality foundation brush. you put the foundation on the back on your hand and then dip the brush into the foundation. then apply to your face in circular motions (not long strokes like painting).
the sephora collection has a nice foundation brush

neither, use a brush! your fingers have oils and could cause acne, a sponge sucks up ur product........a brush works best!

Use a powder foundation like Bare Minerals...it's better for your skin, and will not feel like makeup.
