In the first place if it were selling for less than two dollars a gallon it would be cheaper. When they suddenly push it from $1.55 a gallon to over three dollars, they know we cannot stop using gasoline, so the oil companies don't care.
The media will tell us that gas prices are going down when it drops form 3.15 to 3..07, but if you pay attention to the percentage of the drop it becomes insignificant and not really newsworthy.

There is no doubt that they have lost business with this gouge and that is the only reason they will drop a few cents, to mollify the public and give the illusion that prices are going down.

it is still a gouge, no matter what they say. Here is another wrinkle for you.

Think of how many billion gallons are stored in the tanks of our automobiles. When we go to a station, we fill up. If we only bought the number of gallons every week that we need and stop using our automobiles to store their gasoline, Their stores would pile up and they would have to drop the price to get rid of the surplus. The less people buy, the more they have to store, Simple supply and demand principle.

Gas should have been cheaper a few weeks ago. There was a big stockpile developing over the summer and now there's a surplus. Plus the stock market thought we were heading into a major hurricane season that just hasn't developed so the pressure was off.

Cheaper? According to who? I was watching a couple 80's movies last weekend and the cost on the signs in each movie was less than $1.00 per gallon. Gas prices are not cheaper!

heres the thing about gas, when theres "trouble" in the middle east, gast companies use it as an excuse to hike up the prices even though the petroleum wont get here for another 4 months.
when peace is restored, gas companies "restocked" their oil supplies and gas is cheaper
JUST A WAY FOR GAS COMPANIES TO GET MONEY

there just setting us up for next summer, it is still 20 or 30 cents higher than it was last year at this time and this continues every year so next summer expect to pay $3.75 to $4.00 a gallon and then again next labor day they will drop it and you will be paying $2.80 a gallon and you will be estatic that the price dropped.
