I vote for hp. I have bought 4 computers from dell. 2 desk tops 2 laptops. I bought them only because of the rebates and every time I had to fight to get the rebate. Dell rates 4th in customer dissatisfaction according to a CNN poll. Mr dell knows his company has this problem and is trying to fix it he says. So I kept buying hoping it would get better. Nope it didnt. Dell dosent seem to send you your rebates with out repeated calls. They have numerous loopholes where they can keep you from getting them. On the other hand , Those computers I bought are working well. But if you dont get the rebates where is the value? HP makes very good computers as well and are gaining market share against Dell over these problems.

Compaq, which is an HP product. I have a laptop and a PDA and have had great performance from them. We use Dells at work and the one I had needed a new motherboard and Screen in less than a year of use. Virtually every Dell in our office had serious problems, not to mention the problems for the laptops with the batteries.

Dell for sure.
unless you need it now and don't want to wait for shipping because you can only buy Dells online. HP you could go to BestBuy for example and have it that same day.
But right now i would say Dell for sure.

HP, easier to upgrade, easy to use.. I have one, wife has one, and sis in law has one..
and, since they are inexpensive, when the time comes, easy to replace. :)
