Hi, i'm posting this for my cousin. whenever he logs onto his computer you have to type in a password to log on, the computer will not take his password it's rejecting it for whatever reason. He says he's typing it in correctly but the question is how can he log on with it rejecting his password is there anything he can do to get into his account, there's no other administrator accounts on it, and he has no password reset disk. what can i do?

try restarting the system and when you see the first screen when it is turning on press F8 on the keyboard you will get Windows Advanced Startup options, select the Safe mode press Enter Twice and once it loads the log on screen click on administrator and log into the computer go to control panel and click user accounts and click on the user account name of whose the password is not getting accepted and select the option remove password. Reboot the system, will work Issue Resolved.

Make sure that the password being typed is in same case as it was typed the first time becuase this password on windows is case sensitive.

Note that if you have forgot the password, there is no way to retrieve it.

Well ok, let me give you some links which may help you getting the password back:

Disclaimer, i cannot be blamed on the link that i have provided if it doesn't work or does any harm to your computer.

Need to know the operating system. If it is winMe just cancel the sign in box and it will work. For winXp before going any further have him make sure caps lock and scroll lock are not on, then try it again. If not successful, repost.

That why I never use password on any of my computers.
He can always reload the OS, or he could install a second OS and fix it from there.
