who says they don't....? Watch a spider work it's web, it's always pulling it's legs up to un stick them. Put 3 fingers on a strip of tape...now pull the middle one up...you can unstick your finger because the other two are holding down the tape. Spiders do the same thing when they walk...

The body of a spider secretes a chemical that stops the web from sticking to it. It doesnt secrete enough to render the web ineffective just enough to allow unfettered movement of the spider over its surface
