He's been dodging childsupport for years. My daughter is19 and away in college. Her fees are to much for me to handle. We have his address but the state can't find his employer. Are there other options I can take?

All they need is his social security #.If They had it they could find him anywhere

The amount has probably changed, but at one point, anything over 10k was a federal felony, which means PRISON! Hire a private detective, or if you can't afford one, call the state attourney general, repeatedly, because I once read that the more you bug them the faster your case gets through, although the people who work there will say thats not true. Actually though, if the state can't find his employer they can't force him to pay much, although there is a minimum (very bare minimum). Also, try to get a lawyer to take the case, making him pay for the lawyer based on the fact that if he had been paying all along you wouldn't need a lawyer. At least get a free consultation with a lawyer who offers one and see what he has to say about hiring a detective. Good luck with this.

First of all your daughter is 19 ? is an adult, you can't collect after 18 years old. and if you know he is working get the name of the company and or call child support services give them as much info you can about the dads employment. I have 3, and two of them are over 18, and it's been 4 years haven't seen any money yet and I even told them he's got a job.

use his social security number and the state is lying if they say that they can not find him. Does he pay taxes? is he remarried? There are alot of things that you can do to find his employer. It is sad that women have to do all the work to find dead beat dads, we have to know where they work where they live ect. now if he commited a felony the state would find him quick. I think that if you do not at least make and attempt to pay support it should be a felony. If you have his address get a lawyer and sue him for the back support, he can be summoned to court you do not need his employer for that. if he does not show then the judge can order him arrested. then what do you loose nothing, at least the state will know where he is. It sounds like hes being paid under the table and thus hiding his social security number for that very reason. You need to find out as much as you can about his employer, addresses, phone numbers, etc. and turn them over to your states child support collection agency and theyll do the rest. You could hire a private eye to find out but thatll cost you out of your own pocket but for what he owes, it may be worth it in the long run. Good luck

Oh yes...call the IRS and turn him in for tax evasion...they will find him, that is for sure. IF he is making money legally, there is a ss report with verified address and emplyer. IF not, and he cannot justify his lifestyle, he is in trouble BIG TIME...he deserves it...and guess what, you will get a 10% reward when the case is closed..10% of all taxes owed for as long as they have been owed..that could well add up to considerably more than 24K...go for it!

I totally understand. I pay child support myself and I know the process. Unless he is getting paid cash money, they should be able to nail him and locate his employer. Give them a phone number or home address if you have it. If you have the "name" of his employer, give that to them. Don't give up sweetie. Your daughter deserves more...He!! YOU deserve more. He's a deadbeat dad and God will get him. But until then, keep on trying to gather information from phone numbers to addresses. Anything you can...!!! If you've gotten letters that he's written to either you or your daughter, give them that address if there is one. Look at emails with a signature that might have his email address. Don't let him tire you out...Good luck... : )

Hmmmm...your daughter is an adult now..that may change things....I live in Canada, and we have the Family Enforcement Agency which will help to collect child support...they help to find and enforce payments....you need to talk with a government worker in your state...to see if you can collect from past years...now the kid is an adult...not sure...Best of luck.

Strange that the state cant find him. If you cant find him, find his family and ask them. Try not to get violent, but ask forcefully. Whatever happens stay on the state, they can and will find him. Also, that kind of money might be a felony in your state. If it is, the criminal court could start looking for him.

Did you give the state his address? do you have his social security number? You may have to do some investigation your self, or go the internal revenue office. anything to get money, they will help. but get as much info as possible on him.

Not really. And depending on what state you are both in, he may get away with it since she is now over 18. That happened to my mom with my sister. :( Good luck though hon!
