Does the DVD player on the Xbox only play dvds of a specific region, and if so which region?

Each DVD player, even in the PlayStations and XBoxes, have a region specific code. Some DVD players (the expensive sort) are code free or region free. I think there is a chip you can buy for the PS so it reads all regions, but I'm not sure if XBox has the same.
To find out what region your XBox plays check the manual. It depends where you bought it. Australia & Sth America has region 4, US is region 1, UK region 2, Indonesia, korea and others are region 3. There's a list of countries and regions on the link below.
