My dad has been a smoker since he was (I believe) 13. I am very afraid for his health. Every time I see a cigarette box, I throw it out. Whenever I see him smoking, I tell him to throw it away, but he doesn't listen. Please help me, he is a very good person with a good sense of humor. I don't want to see him die or suffer.

Alot of people including myself have found that hypnotism really helps, you need to have around 1-3 sessions, it doesnt work for everyone, but it's worth a try. What country are you in? However people have to really want to quit to be able to quit. Maybe you could just book him in anyway...

How IS his health? Most smokers do not die from smoking, they live as long as non-smokers. Smoking can be harmful if a person has a respiratory problem however, and gets little or no exercise. Statistically, the older a person is that smokes the less problems with smoking in old age. Of course statistics are only as good as the data supplied, no one really knows how bad smoking is for ones health. Nobody has actually died from smoking, but smoking can be a contributing factor. I think your father has received your message, leave him alone, neither my father or mother smoked, they both died.

dont worry just tell him the dangers of it like for every cigarette that he smokes he wastes an hour of his life which means less time with you you should try do distract him and tell him that sucking mints or chewing gum takes the sensation away and so does excersise tell him (THIS IS TRUE) that the poison in rat food is in a cigarette and whats in paint and even in fireworks. try spending as much time as you can with him and do a lot of activities KEEP HIM INTERTAINED it will tiotally help

I say your dad is a grown man and is capable of making his own choices. You can throw away all the boxes you want to, if he don't want to quit, he's not going to. Tell him your concern, give him incouragment, but get off his back, he's a big boy.
