What part of Houston?
On the north side (i 45N) try Airline Dr
N central try N. Sheppard area

Go to South Wayside, just south of I-10. That is used car Heaven.

You might try a Mazda Miata. Go to Autotrader.com and just enter a price of $3K. You might have to drive a ways to get it, but you will find it.
