Lake Tahoe. It is gorgoous whether it's summer, fall, winter or spring. It's so romantic and the surroundings are perfect. Beautiful majestic mountains. Lots of different trees including Pine. Great lodgings, cabins or hotels etc. I lived there for many years and met people from every walk of life who had traveled all over the world but they always came back to Lake Tahoe.

Not around a city? Go to Cades Cove, in the Great Smoky Mountains. This is where my wife and I went, also hiking in the mountains around.
Katahdin in Maine is also very nice. There are lowland trails and trails that go up on the mountain ridge, quite a nice challenge for hikers.
And oh, if you like romantic locales try Egg Harbor, Maine. There are many wonderful little coves and islands along the Maine Coast. You can take ferries from Bar Harbor or Portland.
Maybe the best secret, not much known to tourists from the East Coast, it the lovely Isle d'Orleans, in the middle of the St. Laurence River, not far from Cite' de Quebec. There are lovely B& B's, The Sugar Shack where you can sample maple syrup products, strawberries ripe in July. We got to practice our French in a very congenial atmosphere. The town of Quebec City is really more like a medieval French community, in downtown Q.C. But the island is very rural, takes a few hours to drive around. They've got a boat building museum, a museum of Quebecois history too.

Motel 6, any city in America. Cheap, and on your honeymoon, you aren't leaving the bedroom anyway.
