Think of it like this, you borrowed 10 dollars from me and then you came back and borrowed another 4 dollars....now how much do you owe me???

when you deal with adding or subtracting integersyou should always look at their signs...

like the expression above...

- 4 - 10

can also be written as the sum of 2 negative numbers

- 4 + ( - 10 )

and that gives us - 14
