no not really actually its not REAL ram air anyway, real ramair is a straight shot from outside to intake with a filter between grand am ram air makes to many turns...anyway there is not really any special things to do other than oil changes. mabe change the plugs at about 70,80 thousand mi...otherwise its a good motor at about 60-70000 the upper intake Will start to leak other than its a good motor

Pontiac claims the Ram-Air system makes 10 more horsepower over a Grand Am not equipped with it. I believe they use the same air filter, and changing the filter shouldn't be too much different either. Gas mileage should be the same if not better.

Most cars these days boost power and performance by turbos or superchargers or adding more valves. In those methods it forces warm (under the hood) air into your cylinders for a quicker combustion. Placing a scoop on the hood of a car forces cooler(above the hood) air into the carburetor(older cars) or throttle body(newer cars) so it can get the cooler air into the combustion chamber, cooler air makes more horsepower. Both turbo and supercharging takes some of that gained horsepowe away but a hood scoops doesn't.. You might need to change the air filters more often to keep the air flowing freely... Good Luck....

The Ram-Air does help perfomance and fuel milage at hi-way speeds. (don't expect drastic amounts) maybe 1/2 to2 mpg.
As far as special maintance maybe air filter replacement more often. it may allow more water into the air filter.
