I am looking to backup the data files on my computer with a removal form of memory. My computer has bays to support the following types of cards, but I do not know which to go with. I am looking for the best performance and a minimum of 1Gig storage:

Secure Digital
Multi MediaCard
SM (SmartMedia)
Memory Stick®
Memory Stick PRO
CompactFlash®
IBM Microdrive
USB

You can currently buy 1 GB thumb drives and such, but if you get any bigger, you are into USB disk drive territory.

If you are backing up data on a regular basis then I would avoid using flash memory cards. An external disk drive or tape storage would allow for the continued use of the media. Flash drives only have so many "writes" in them before they cease to function and therefore are not really suitable for long term backup.

Buy yourself an external hard drive with 80 GB. it will probably cost $150.00 or less. If you don't already know how, familiarize yourself with how to use "Briefcase" it will save a lot of time when you update your files
