Take in a tour of the monuments in comfy clothes. Washington, D.C., can be surprisingly informal, so pack accordingly.
Steps:
1. Check the weather for your intended dates of travel. D.C. winters are cold, and can get blustery. The summers are hot and humid.
2. Pack business attire appropriate for your line of work. Choose lightweight materials for the summer months. Women wear hose with suits despite the summer heat, and tights for warmth in the winter.
3. Pack comfortable casual clothes for leisure activities. Jeans and tennies are widely accepted, as are shorts in the summer.
4. Take a heavy winter coat, long underwear, sweaters, boots, socks, gloves, a scarf and a hat if you plan to be in Washington between November and March. Wear rubber-soled shoes to avoid slipping on ice or snow.
5. Bring lightweight fabrics such as cotton and linen for summer visits, as these natural fibers will breathe in the heat. Pair summer attire with comfortable walking shoes or sandals.
6. Take a light sweater to wear in air-conditioned buildings during the summer months.
7. Men should bring a sport coat and slacks for dinner parties or shows. Women should pack a nice dress for the same occasions. For formal events, dress conservatively to avoid any hint of scandal.
8. Remember that black will hide dirt and absorb heat, while white and ivory will betray dirt but keep you cool.
Tips:
Bring a carry-on bag that includes everything you might need in case your luggage goes astray: a change of clothes, all medications, spare contact lenses or glasses, all forms of money and any important documents.
Pack to accommodate your needs. Leave superfluous items at home.

Humidity With A Capital" H" by Nikol Hopkins
Lived in DC for a year, and the humidity kicked my butt. The summers are extremely hot, humid, and rainy. Expect a lot of sweat.

No food on DC metro by eHow Friend
Be sure not to eat or drink anything on the metro-- you can get arrested for this.

It is usually cool...I'd say mid 60's. Pack pants or jeans, a couple of sweaters and a light jacket. If you plan on being out in the evening, you might want something a little heavier. This can vary though. I lived in MD about an hour from DC and it has been warm enough at Easter to wear short sleeves. The best thing to do is get online and check the weather the day before you go. Have a great trip!

Here's what I do:
Get a piece of paper and then get ready in your brain and write down everything you need. Multiply the clothing by the number of days you'll be there.
Take at least one dressy outfit (just in case)
Make sure you pack a raincoat
Stuff for your menstrual cycle -- you never know
Comfortable shoes & dress shoes
Extra underwear
Blow dryer (just in case hotel doesn't have one)
toothbrush, toothpaste
razor, shave cream
vitamins, supplements, medication
Make sure any liquids are in ziploc bags.
Lay each piece of clothing out and fold into a long rectangle then roll -- this makes more space in your bags so you can pack more.
Pack an extra piece of luggage (like a backpack or duffle bag) so you can bring stuff you buy back with you.
Go over the list (to be sure you included everything) and get ready in your head as you do. Then use your list as a check list to pack.
Anything you forget you can buy in DC -- unlike foreign travel where you need to make sure you have EVERYTHING you need because though it is available you may not be able to find it (recognize it).
Haven't traveled recently (on a plane) so if you are travelling by air you will want to be sure you comply with new security measures -- I am sure you can find this on-line.

Easter weather is not cold, but it can tend to get chilly at night. Depending on long you are staying. . . jeans, short sleeves and a sweater or jacket should be fine. I would not bring a sundress or sandels just yet.

Easter will be a chilly, sping weather!
Take a light coat, pack an umbrella in case it rains!
Can be as low as 50s or as high as 80s.

I would bring layers, t shirts, flannel shirts, sweaters, jeans, underwear socks. A bag of toiletries, toothbrush, comb, shampoo, q tips. Some books. Backpacks are good and easy to carry.

If you are from a warm climate bring winter clothes.
If you are from a colder climate bring clothes that you would wear in fall. It will probably be in The 60's while your there.
