i want to upgrade my ram on my laptop, with 2 1gb sticks, but i dont know which sticks will work. how do i find out?

Use the tool at crucial.com to determine the memory you need. You can then buy it there or somewhere less expensive.

take it to a store is the easiest way. or do some research on your computer. I could probobly tell you off the top of my head but you didn't give me a model number. If you are looking to buy it off the internet then go to a store and ask them what will fit then write down the type of memory they are trying to sell you make sure and get as specific as possible such as... DDR 333 PC3200 etc...

check it, just one, and after, another one module, until your lap works and you can find your memory work. then check info here, if you want to buy a memory ram module.

Go to www.hp.com and look up accessories for your laptop.

You don't have to buiy it from them, buit they will tell you what you can put in it.
