The best way to keep mosquitoes away from your yard is to charge admission but usually, just make sure there is no standing water.

let there be no puddles of water where they can live.
There's a tree that mosquitoes doesn't really like and stay away, our village park playground abound with these trees, kids don't complain and when we play cards from dusk till dawn no mosquitoes.

try not to have little puddles of water. also they are atracted to banana peels

once my sister left a banana peel in my room and at night i got bit like 15 times
