I am moving soon... my horse is coming with. I am moving to an area wheare there are lots of tornados. If there is a tornado and I get enough warning, what should I do with my horse?

ive read,put your horse an in open pasture where there are no trees. take all of the horses medical stuff and put it in a big baggie.{don't forget the your address and how old the horse is} tie the baggie to the horses halter and put the halter on him. then just leave him and run for your safety. im really sorry that you have to go through this. you will be in my prayers. also you can give your horse to a tornado proof shelter and go there to ride him.be safe

I would look into the local shelters and see if there is a safe haven for larger animals if a storm comes. I don't know that you would really have enough time to get your horse to safer ground because storms can be and are so unpredictable. I would check with your vet though, he might now of a place that is close that might be safer.

make sure you board it in a safe place that is well equipped for tornados. If they are common in this area then im sure the buildings are built to withstand them, including barns.

You turn them loose in the pasture. We do it here in Oklahoma all the time.
