Why is it so many people can't spell worth spit?
I mean I am not a spelling police officer, but please, how can I read AND understand a question if there are so many spelling errors it takes me forever to correct it and figure it out.
Is the worlds schools dropping the ball that badly nowadays?

Why is it, so many people can't spell worth spit? I mean, I'm not a spelling policeman; but please!! How can i read and understand a question, if there are so many spelling errors? It takes me forever to correct a question just so I can answer it! Is the public school system failing our children that badly? Punctuation is just as important as spelling! Alot of people overlook it!

Your grammar sucks.. I mean, I am not a grammar police officer; But, please, how can I read AND understand your question if there are so many grammatical errors that it took me forever to correct it and figure it out? Are the world's schools dropping the ball that badly these days?

When I come along a question that has too many errors in it and I can't figure it out, I skip it and go to the next.

I do agree with someone that said something about yahoo answers not having spell checker for when you ask a question. I think they should add spell checker to questions, like they have when you are answering.

Dear you have to be Patient with them . They are probably just beginning and don't realize there is a spell check. None of us are perfect, although we wish we were. Please try to ignore the poor spelling. I do it sometimes myself and send without checking it out. Once they realize there is a spell check it, will be easier for them. Some are from other nationalities also, and that can make a difference. Some are very young and do the best that they can. You have a great evening...........

Through a combination of lack of funding for schools, apathy on the part of students, and the glorification of people who don't know how to speak properly, its a wonder we can understand each other at all! I pity the many people in my generation who either don't know how to spell, or don't care that they are writing and speaking incorrectly. All too soon they will have to realize that the world judges you based on how you speak, and they will be dismissed from job interviews, etc. accordingly, which in my mind, is punishment enough.

Good point, but sadly, it's older people, people that have been out of school doing this. School kids (where I am anyway) are drilled with spelling. And to think there is a spell check! Now to only teach people to use it.

You are right. That is why we have "check spelling" on top of the question -- just follow the rules. As for the second part of your question--what else to do...send them back to school I would say is one suggestion the other one is "spank" them if it is allowed by law in your state/province. Good luck -- to both.

I just thought maybe most of these people were texting in their questions from a cell phone with poor reception, but perhaps you're right. No, sorry, I'm sticking with the cell phone excuse.

They can't really be that poor in terms of both spelling and grammar. (Er, is it grammer?) Oh, God, now it's catchy and I gots it two!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
