alot of counties decided this is the respectable depth because that was the average height of a man. and that "They Shoud Be at a depth that is equivelent to the Height Of Man Standing Upright."

Seperating Us From The Dead By The Height Of A Man, is Also Respectable To us.

AND THE SMELL AND FOR SAFETY IN A FLOOD,TO A LESSER DEGREE.
The Smell Would Not Reach Us If They Were 5 or 4 feet down but 3, maybee.

Bodies are buried 6 ft under as a way of stopping wild animals digging up and eating the bodies. It is also a good depth in case a cemetery becomes unused and the land is turned over to housing or agriculyure, it wouldn't be very nice to be digging your garden and finding the remains of someones Granny ! It also stops disease spreading out from the body into the atmosphere, at the depth of 6 ft there is not much chance of diseases coming into contact with anyone else.
I believe that somwhere in the Bible it also says that a body should be buried equal to the height of a man standing upright.

If we're not buried atleast 6 feet under the smell of our decomposing body will make the area above a bad place to be.
