Yes, it happens when you get so upset that it feels good to make other people feel bad or upset. If you know what you did was wrong you should go apoligize and say it's the pain that made you act like that...sometimes making other people feel bad makes you feel better.
Do the right thing and correct the situation.

Who hasn't? If they are a real friend that can forgive you and move on. If not, it is better it happened now instead of a time when you really needed that person. Some people just cannot keep from losing friends by not building a bridge.
