Black is the best absorber of radiation.
Heat being a form a radiation (Infrared radiation), hence black is a very good absorber of heat.
Generally, the darker the color, the more radiation it absorbs because light colors tend to reflect light and other radiation

Black absorbs the most heat. The more black a colour is, the more heat it absorbs. On pure spectrum colours, red is probably the most absorbant.

Matte black is the best absorber of i.r. radiation (and the best emitter, as well). Generally, dark colors are better absorbers than lighter ones.
