Cookies Definition
The cookie file is a file that resides on the client machine. It contains data passed from web sites, so that web sites can communicate with this file when the same client returns. The web site only has access to the part of the cookie file that represents the interaction with that particular web site. Clearly the cookie file has caused some issues with respect to privacy. Considering that as consumers, we do not know what information is being stored in the file, we should become concerned! The cookie file was first developed in order to help sites with the transaction process of the web. Without a cookie file, web sites are not able to track a single user's path through a web site, thus a transaction that required multiple pages (as most do) would simply not be workable.
Feel free to delete them all. It won't harm your computer, but if you spend a lot of time a certain sites the "cookie" will speed up the web page access.

Coolies are the web sites means of tracking your visiting tracks to other websites. You can saftely delte them with no ill effects. However, you may want to put Ebays cookie on your safelist, it can help in your logging in to Ebay. Delete all cookies first, then go to Ebays log-in page, log-in and check your cookie list and enter that cookie into your safe list. It should stay when you delete other cookies from your system.

Cookies provide a means for a Web server to induce a client to store information about itself which can subsequently be called up by the Web server when required. This might be information which the user has supplied about themselves, their preferences or their requirements via forms input. The oft-cited example is the shopping list which might be added to from time to time. Cookies are currently implemented by Netscape and Internet Explorer. More information : http://www.netscape.com
