a cloak and dagger mystery with the catholic church as the setting/background... fictional books usually have some sort of real life areas of interest such as golf, music, art,etc as the basis for which the authors weave their tale around...in this novel, the author weaves his tale around the vatican and catholicism...he is simply telling a story, trying to keep the readers interest by any which way he can and yet be believable somewhat, but not necessarily true...seeing as everyone knows there is a catholic church , those who know little may believe the tale as true unfortunately

Is this for a homework assignment? Provide more details please. What do you think the theme is? Personally, I loved the book - very exciting and far more interesting than DaVinci Code, but I didn't find it particularly "significant."
