This attitude is not what Steve would have wanted. His death is only one in 3 recorded deaths from stingrays.
Steve would say 'Crikey, I didn't see that coming'.
Sadly missed and loved by all. Australia is in mourning but remembering an icon who loved life and whose enthusiasm was infectious.
Please remember the legacy he left us all, a love for animals and the need to respect the ones we have left.

Steve Irwin was a scientist, who, above all else, valued all life. His greatest joy was learning about animals and what made them tick. It would be a great insult to his legacy and his family, to kill any animal especially a geocide on stingrays. If any of you really watched his videos, he always was in the middle of the mix. It is a great loss to science, tv and to the world that Steve Irwin is gone. I'll miss him alot.

There was a Brahmin in India in ancient times. As he waled barefoot through grass it pricked him. He was angry at the poor grass which he was trampling under his feet and yet saying nothing . He vowed to uproot the entire grassland and begain to pluck it with his bare hand. The result is anybody's guess. He got his hands bruised.
This suggestion of extermination of the stingrays is an extremism of this kind.In fact, the stingray is a mild creature and is jocularly called a domestic dog.Even if some small stingrays inflict some damager n the swimmers they are not fatal. The observers agree that Steve, perhaps in his usual bravado, went too near to some fish which in desperation attached him in self-defence.No fault of his.
We should not lose the sense of balance. In fact, even Steve, if he had survived the attack, would have vehemently opposed such a suggestion. Aa more constructive response to the tragedy would be to ensure that Steve's children grow up to be chips f the old block as Steve himself was of his father.
And to work for preservation of the fastly disappearing species.

No -- the stingray was doing what it was supposed to do naturally to defend itself. Steve Irwin knows that -- he loves animals -- he would never want someone to do anything to any living being. We are all saddened by his loss. I'm 48 years old by the way --- watched his shows for a long time. It's very sad.

No of course not, interacting with wild animals always has danger. The stingray did not attack Mr. Irwin it just did what it does when attacked or bothered.

Nope. If he found out people were killing stingrays because of his death, he'd be pissed. He loved animals. And it wasn't the stingray's fault. he was just protecting himself. What good would it do if you killed the stingray after Steve is already dead. At least he died doing something he loved. =] R.I.P. Steve.
