Oh man, I couldn't believe it when I heard it. My friend told me about Steve Irwin, so I turned on CNN to see what had happened, and there was the story about poor Steve. He was stung by a stingray, and the barb got him right in the heart. If the puncture of his heart didn't kill him, the shock of the venom straight into his heart surely would have.
I thought Steve Irwin was kind of a loony, but he was a really nice guy who had a real passion for educating people about conservation. He touched a lot of people in his life. On CNN, even the prime minister of Australia was in tears as he gave a statement about Steve's contribution to conservation and wildlife awareness.
I feel sorry for Steve Irwin's family, too. I think he and his wife just had another kid not too long ago. Poor Steve. I hope the angels in heaven love his stories and adventures as much as we did.

The sting ray's tail is like a knife or spear he didn't get "stung". He was swimming over the stingray and apparently this time of the year it is tiger shark hunting season and the stingray went into defense mode probably thinking that Steve was a shark. The sharp barb on the end of his tail went straight into his heart and punctured it.

He was doing his normal thing being with animals. The thing is that this time he was with a stingray, and all of a sudden the stingray shocked him and sadly it killed him he was born in 1962 died 2006.

He got killed while snorkling by a sting ray. The sting rays nose stuck into his heart.
Im not sure what exactly killed him, it could have been the stab but also the poison thats on the nose.

why filming he came up behind the sting ray and it apparently was startled and its barbed tail pierced steves side and went right in between two rib bones and pierced his heart. this is a very very rare accident that killed him.

He was stung by a stingray. Usually their stings aren't fatal, but this one got him in the heart.
