I'm a twelve year old girl, I really think I should start babysitting, because I want to learn how to interact better with children, how to handle responsibility, and, of course, it would be nice to make money, along with getting out of the house. If you've ever babysat, how did you actually find someone to babysit? I don't know any children who don't already have siblings, and anyone my mom or dad may know live pretty far away. Any suggestions?

Start by getting your parent permission. You could post a flyer at the supermarket and convenience stores. I would also sugget you take a babysitting course. Also, consider the fact that you are only 12. It may be a little early for you to be taking on the responsiblity of babysitting.(or not if you are mature enough to handle it.) Also, you could ask your teachers for leads. They might have kids of thier own they want you to babysit.

Well first try looking into a babysitter's course. They teach a lot of great stuff!

Then once you have graduated from your babysitting course, ask some of the teachers at your school if they need a babysitter. Chances are, if they know you're looking to babysit, they might know someone who needs a babysitter.

Ask your parents if they know anyone at work who needs a babysitter. You could check in your neighborhood. Chances are, word will get around that your an available sitter!

You could always check with your parents to see if they would drive you to the house where you will be babysitting, or you could offer to watch the child in your home. Some adults might like that better because if anything were to happen, your parents would be nearby to help you out, if needed.

There's lots of ways to go about it. Communication is a big key. Talk to your parents about what you want to do. More than likely they will help you to do what you want!!

Good Luck!

I would do a lot of networking. And I'd make up a flyer advertising your babystitting availability.
I wouldn't just babysit for anybody. I would have your parents help you network and only give your flyer to those who your parents say it is "o.k.".
If you belong to an organization. Let them know. Like if you have a church you go to and they have a bullentin, put your flyer on their bulleting.
I would also take a CPR class so that any future clients will feel safer leaving their kids with you.
good luck.

If you have a church that you attend see if you can put a filer on the bulletin board. Otherwise there is not much you can do. You DO NOT want to go hanging filers all over your town. You never know who will respond. Also talk with your parents. They may have friends at work that are in need of a good sitter. School teachers are good too.
