Charlie Batch, while no Ben Roethlisberger, is a very capable quarterback. Last year when Ben was injured Charlie was 2-0 with a 81.5 rating. That 81.5 rating is pretty good for a backup who doesn't play much. To me he proved then that he is a very capable backup.

Batch is not a good back-up, I hope Big Ben gets back very soon for the sake of the Steelers. It is unfortunate also the Steelers open the season against an improving Dolphin team and in week 2 have to go to Jacksonville. The Steelers will need Big Ben to compete in both those two games.

Nope. Nope. Nope. Definetly not agaisnt a improved Miami defense. And with Hines Ward at less than 100%, its only gonna make Batch job's a lot worse. So to all Steelers fans (including myself), chalk this one up as a close loss.

I hope he is. He was 2-0 last year with Ben out. Preseason was pretty shaky, but that's preseason. The "real" team will be playing so he may do all right.
And why does someone think Ben will be out 4-6 weeks? That seems a bit extreme and it makes me very afraid!!

Without a doubt! Charlie was the man at Detroit & is a proven winner with the Steelers. Don't forget, he's got a helluva supporting cast around him & a killer defense to boot.

charlie batch will throw 4 interceptions a game and doom the steelers season. big ben might be out for 2-5 weeks so count on the steelers to focus on the run with my man willie parker. if defenses shut down the run, then good luck.

Charlie has had some great games. He is a vet with some skills. the Steelers are pretty good. I think I could get at least one touchdown behind their line.
