People pretending to love, care and understand. I look at someone and think ‘what is fake about them’. I can’t find the difference anymore: who to trust and whom to hate. All leads to insinuations of... plain-drama. Asking something in return, which I’m not willing to give.

People all around me are liars and it’s making me numb. I can’t compare anymore.

I’m 16 and I’m just confused: Isn’t honesty the main thing?

We all have different stories to share... it sums to a total of one story that is spilling with lies. Where is the integrity? Why can’t they see the beauty of life? Their lies are making me doubt the people I trust... and I’d never dare to trust again; I can’t afford to care. Jeez! ... I need caffeine.

Your real problem is that you have an idea in your mind of how people should be. Give up your Idea of what every one else should be like and live your life the way you know you ought to.

We are fake and we lie because we are afraid.

With compassion.

Honesty and fairness are very important and I have been on the lookout for it all of my life. They are rare and vaulable traits. The main thing is you keep your integrity! I do give people the benefit of the doubt. No one is going to be honest all of the time, but you will find some pretty honest people in the world. Many things make people lie. Sometimes they do it to fit into a certain group and will even turn on a true friend if pressured. Sometimes they put on a false front because they haven't learned the lesson of being true to themselves. Often they are insecure and not comfortable with their true selves. Sometimes they want something from you, so they try to be what they "think" you want, then eventually the curtain is dropped and you see the real person. It doesn't hurt to be a little suspicious, until you know people really well.

I think it's a bit more complicated than "real" or "fake"

People are complex, dynamic, multi-facted creatures.

If one were to be "fake" in a particular situation, it does not follow that he will be fake at all times. No one is completely one way or the other. That's what makes this a difficult question.

If someone were trustworthy 80% of the time, but fake for the other 20% how do you determine what sort of person they are? It's a tough call.

I'd say, give people the benefit of the doubt, but remember that
no one is going to be truthful 100% of the time.

You've got to understand that your high school age. People at your age don't know if they are coming or going ,and usually change their opinions on a dime. One moment they are your best friend and the other they are spitting lies. Trust me, I just finished high school and that whole mess. If you take a deep breath and just think about it for a second I am sure you will figure out where your true friends lie.

Hey, I know what you mean (or I think I do). I'm 29 myself and have met a fair amount of fake people in my life too... I've been at the point I couldn't trust them and myself anymore because of it. I always did what others wanted me to do, and wasn't honest with myself. I have to deal with this now...

The easiest way to deal with it is to let go your expectations: don't expect them to be sincere, only trust yourself! With time you'll discover that you can rely on some people you know, and on others you can't... Time will tell.

Just try to be yourself, do what you like not because of others, but because of you. If you are honest to yourself you can't blame others in the end, and you'll feel better too. If they can't respect this: it's their problem - believe me, it really is THEIR problem.

When you find out who you can trust, who is sincere to you, you can have a good relation to that person without any doubts...
For me honesty / trust is a very important thing in relations. Without it, there's no reason to keep the relationship going!

But don't loose all your faith in people, their are many people in this world that are not fake, the hard thing is to find them... but you will - I'm sure!!!

Yes, honesty and respect are very important. The older you get, the more you'll be able to detect sh*tty people and stay away from them. As for your current situation, someone once told me: Its always alright to take out the trash.
Also, hang out by yourself and do thing YOU like. More people with your beliefs will be drawn to your confidence!

Sadly, they are scared to be real because the majority of our society rejects the truth of who we are.
It is a gift that you see this, but do not run from it with caffeine or other escapes-be still and be who you are even though you will face confrontation by those threatened by your realness.

Because people are too afraid these days to live their own lives and have their own opinion because people are rude to them and put them down for having different thoughts then those people.

Honesty is very important... and there needs to be more people like you, to help stop this animosity.
