I don't think they are actually wasting their money this season, if you recall last season the team was a mess defensively.... specially someone called Gravessen in the midfield ........

Sorry for the Danish but Emerson is by far a better player, and yes there is the issue about the age but you are trying to bring balance this season offensively and defensively.

Cannavaro he is great player, world cup champion not a single card in the tournament, and again he is someone that will bring balance to the team and a great partner for Sergio Ramos to build a solid defense.

Diarra was the best because it cost less that what Chelsea paid to Lyon for Essien, and also he is only 25 so he will have his best years as a player in Madrid and eventually will become partner with the U-21 champion Javi Garcia.

Van Nistelroy... is a good complement because Ronaldo needs space to make his moves, but when the defensive lines are too close Van Nistelroy is the man....

Reyes.... wow he is a great player, very young, he is in loan and there hasn't been anyone in the past years that could actually play at the left...

All this players were bought in 2 months, because of Real Madrid's elections and the main focus this season was to get a balanced team, Florentino Perez lost the focus of the importance of the defensive side of the team and after he sold Makele he didn't sign anyone for that position until ...the past 2 years but the only players that worth it were Sergio Ramos and Baptista, the others yes....... they were a waste of money !!

I've always thought that since they bought Beckham, Ronaldo, Figo, Zidane etc (it's an endless list!) How can a team waste that amount of money to buy the guarantee that they won't win anything, I don't understand. Now they changed the president but they're doing the same thing, by buying Van Nisterlooy, Diarra, Cannavaro, Emerson, Reyes. What do they want all these players for if they're not able to create a real team? They should first think to create a group with the players they have, to give them some value, then to buy others! What's this thing about some clubs like Chelsea and Real?!

Real Madrid has a lot of star players and though Cannavaro is a bonus to any team one has to wonder "with all that star power why the lack of success?" I heard an interview where they though Cannavaro could be that magic they have been missing in their line-up.
One man does not make a team and often a team of high paid high ranking players play poorly together.

Perhaps the truth is too many hot shots on one team destroys "the team" in a team.

Players with heart and as seen in 2006 World Cup are often the ones that end up on top. Italy walked into the tournament extremely ridiculed by their own country, the constant backlash bonded the team as a tight unite and in the end that bond landed them on top. Look a Greece in Euro 2004, no super stars but players with a lot of heart.

Why would u wanna hate the BEST TEAM IN THE WORLD?

Last season, i have to agree that they DID waste money on players who didnt contribute to the team. Players like WOODGATE, Baptista and some other...

This season, i feel that they are using their money for better usage.
They bought players like Cannavaro to strengthen the backline.
emerson and Diarra to assist Beckham and R.Carlos and Guti to have a solid midfield.
Last but not least, Van Nistelrooy to add power to the attacking line.
Real Madrid are really doing well with their money sepecially after purchasing a top class coach.

3 CHEERS for them

Madridistas for LIFE!!!

I don't think they are wasting their money now , they are building a strong team ... when you see them buying canavaro and emerson that's definetly not a waste of money ... but I can really say that they were wasting their money before
