Oh you just have no idea how much I understand where you are coming from...

I have friends from about any party you could imagine and it doesn't seem to matter which, they don't want to THINK about politics. They will say a few words and then it appears that it is just too serious of a topic.

I think most ppl work all day and when they come home, they don't want the stress about world politics. It really is that simple.

It is not that they don't care... they can't handle it.

Btw, there used to be a media law that required a certain amount of news to cover political issues including local... that law was down away with by the Bush Sr. administration.

Since they dictate our lives in so many ways from the products we buy to were we can travel, to the price of everything. It also is a major influence, for the middle class and lower class, in where you go to college and when you retire. The people of America are one of the lowiest voter turn outs in an advanced nation. The people could care less about democracy.

It's pure frustration. When our elected officials lie and cheat and steal, but get re-elected 98% of the time, and when our own executive branch willfully violates federal laws and ignores the constitution, and when the two major parties have the system sewn up tight so that no third-party stands a reasonable chance....

What incentive do people have to shout at the rain and hope for more?

{EDIT to DanceTeacher} Actually, if you don't vote for one of the two major parties, your vote literally is not counted at all. It has absolutely no effect under the current Congressional-district and electoral college system. So, blaming people for not wasting their time doesn't help anything.

Oh, people get busy and think someone else will do it. Then folks get mad about things that go on in the government. Personally, I think people shouldn't complain if they don't go vote. They had a chance to change it and sat back to let others handle things.

Lets face it, watching paint dry is more exciting than talking about George Bush.

Democrats usually have a hard time with intelligent discussions. Must be the public schools.
