My car is leaking transmission fluid. I was told that I might need to replace the gasket. How do I ask an autoshop to fix this.. I want to ask them in a way where they will not rip me off.

A transmission more commonly leaks at the front seal, rear seal, or pan gasket. Just take the car to a reputable mechanic or a friend that has mechanical knowledge to let them check it. Just ask them that you want to know where your transmission fluid leak is coming from and what the best remedy would be to fix it. Just make it clear that you do not want any repairs preformed without your permission.

Get someone you can trust and knows about cars to determine what gasket is leaking then tell them that.. If you go in there not knowing what you talking about they will screw you good...

ASK THEM TO SHOW YOU WERE ITS LEAKING AND YOU WANT THE OLD PARTS, FILTER AND GASKET. MAKE SURE THEY JUST DO NT TIGHTEN IT UP, THATS MIGHT BE WHAT IT NEEDS, BUT IF YOU HAVE LOT OF MILES JUST CHANGE THE FILTER AND GASKET AND FLUID, BECARFEUL UNDER THE CAR MIGHT DRIP ON YOU HAVE THEM SHOW YOU WERE ITS DRIPPING FROM.

well not sure what year, make, model we are talking about?
first you should find a way to figure out if thats really the problem.
second be careful at shops! im almost certain your going to pay rediculous prices,in this case i would take it to the dealer.your going to pay about the same, seeing as your worried about being ripped off, they will try too rip you off, might as well get it done at the dealer!
