The dexcool is actually on a voluntary recall to remove it, Texaco had GM sign a contract with GM to use the product in the vehicles for so long and GM will not brake the contract.
Drain, flush with water and fill with the green stuff, if you service it every other year as you should your cars cooling system will last much longer.
Purchase the 50/50 mix or add distilled water to the non mixed antifreeze only it will help reduce the scale build up in the heater core and the radiator.
Flushing and refilling every two years will keep the electrolysis out of the cooling system and that will help the entire system from degrading from the inside. This includes Gaskets, Hoses , and all metal surfaces. especially the bi-metal of aluminum heads and cast iron blocks.

the only answer that makes any sense here is from Steve. You can and I would recommend that you do use green coolant. Dex-Cool is a good coolant but if it ever gets low it will flash rust the radiator and eventually cause a build up. So you can make sure your coolant never goes low which is pretty hard to do. or you can get it flushed out and have the green put in and then change it every 2 years. And by the way if you mix the 2 together(which is what I assume has happened here) not a single thing will happen except now you turned your long life coolant into a standard coolant that needs changing every 2 years. There is absolutely no harm caused to your engine or radiator by mixing the 2.

General motors engines are designed to use Dex Cool antifreeze, they have the trademark on Dex Cool antifreeze.
I would only use what it came with from the factory. Do not mix regular antifreeze with Dex Cool antifreeze, they do not mix.

no, any time a vehicle uses dex-cool, it usually means that there are plastic parts in the cooling system. Green antifreeze wiil eventually soften and destroy these plastic parts. Flush your radiator asap and replace with the proper mixture of dex-cool and water. 60% dex-cool and 40% water. Hope this helps
