On ocasion my cougar will shudder when I'm driving. This only seems to happen when the car has been driven for awhile, the shudder does not happen at the same speeds, only when I am keeping it at a constant speed for several miles.

At what speed? If it is 60/65 MPH or above, your tire/wheel needs to be re-balanced. If the shudder happens while braking, have your brakes inspected by a qualified technician. If the shudder is at lower speeds that 60-65 MPH, have your tires inspected by a qualified tech.

Have your tires rebalanced first

check and make sure you have transmission fluid. If that's not it, I don't know.
