The CSA give you a protected earnings level depending on your income. If you earn less than that they can't take anything.
If you have no money left after you have paid your CSA, rent / mortgage, bills etc then you should shop around for a better deal in mortgage, cheaper gas electricity supplier because your child needs support.
If you can, have your child over night at least once or twice a week it knocks the amount down drastically.
Suggest an amount with your ex and pay it in hand each week / month no direct debits because if they bounce you'll be in court. (i've been there)

You are obviously willing to pay for the daughter you love but the CSA presumes that ALL ex-partners are the opposite. You need to sort things with them by appealing immediately and, if possible, discuss this with your ex wife before hand and try to come up with an acceptable amount to both of you.

And this is precisely why our government's system is shot to bits! So many people realise that they would be better off not working - where's the incentive?!!
I sympathise - and apologies for not being able to add anything constructive. It does sound as if something has been overlooked here though, I can't believe you would be expected to live on £11 p/w. Have you checked out the CSA's website?
http://www.csa.gov.uk/
They have an online calculator which you can use to work out what payments you would be expected to make.

You could talk to your ex to see if there is some other arrangement that you could make. If you both agree and you pay regularly then it could be resolved that way. I'm trying to get money out of my ex, whose wages are quite good, he agreed to 50.00 per week for two children, but he hasn't given us a penny yet. I contacted the CSA because I got fed up of begging for money, but they have'nt done anything. He was supposed to take them shopping for trainers but he made an excuse and didn't even come up for his weekly 3hour visit (his choice not mine) I'm sure you're not that unreasonable so talk about it and get in touch with citizens advice.

i had that 5 years ago. kept moving address for the first 2 years, moved to spain for another 2 years, in january i returned to uk, skint and on the dole. i now get more money than i would if i was working.
the whole countries gone politically insane.
my best advice is this;-
the government states it costs £46 per week to support a child.
the child has 2 parents, therefore i am prepared to pay a maximum of £23 per week per child.
i don't know if it works, i'm trying to get a job and see.
if not i get fired and they can support me.

they only send you a letter like that to shock you into getting in contact. go and see them take all your financial ins and outs with you and you will find that things are not as bad as you think. remember this they know you have a life as well. what good are you to the country when your all claiming benefits the know and understand that.

I thought they only took about 25% of what a person earns. You can't be earning much.
