Well, oral contraceptives (the pill), the ring, the patch, and depo provera all use hormones to control ovulation and your period.
The condom is a barrier contraceptive, so it doesn't use hormones - just a barrier to prevent the sperm from your vagina. The female condom (inserted into the vagina), the diaphragm, and the sponge all do similar things.
Then there's the Intrauterine Device (IUD). It's inserted into your uterus. Some use a low dose hormone to prevent you from building up endometrium (what you bleed out every month). Others are made of copper, and just create an environment that isn't friendly to sperm or fertilized eggs.
