Don't be nervous about the results, just be glad that such a test is available. I had a coloscopy, they discovered the malignancy, removed it, and I'm fine now. As these are the 'symptom free' cancers, a few years ago people never knew they had them until it was too late to treat them. We're the fortunate ones today.
My prayers will be with you tomorrow.

I also had a colposcopy and they did find cancer cells. Fortunately, it was considered stage 0 though. I was sent to an OB/Gyn doctor and she performed a cone biopsy on my cervix. (They remove a small cone shaped section from the center of the cervix. I was put under for that but it was an outpatient procedure) In my case, this ended up being a diagnostic procedure as well as the treatment. When the biopsy results came back, they found that the cancer cells did not extend to the edges of the sample so that was all I had to have. This all happened about 7 or 8 years ago and I've been fine ever since. I have had a couple of abnormal paps since then but they've been the usual kind that consists of some type of irritation that they give you a cream type medicine for. I just make sure that I have a pap every year so I can keep up on it.

I know it's hard but try not to be nervous. Chances are that it will be nothing but even if they do find something, with this being your first abnormal pap, it should be pretty minor as these things go. (As a matter of fact, my regular doctor later said that if he hadn't known I had a cone biopsy done, he wouldn't have been able to tell and also the amount of tissue they removed was small enough that if I were to get pregnant it wouldn't be any kind of risk for an incontinent cervix) Just try to stay as calm as possible and think positive!! Good luck!
