I've actually heard good things about shaving powder, it's made for black men as their facial hair tends to be coarser than facial hair on white men – I'll be honest here, originally this was recommended to me as an alternative to shaving or waxing the 'bikini area' or otherwise known as your groin!

It is supposed to be very good for coarse hair such as, yes pubic hair, and male facial hair, but the problem is perhaps getting a hold of it, if you live in an area where there are a high population of black men it may be easier to find, alternatively you can buy it online – quick Yahoo! search should come up with UK stockists.

You mix it with water, apply to beard, leaving it for a few minutes and them remove and rinse – it is a bit of a fuss really, but it does work well, I'd say it is probably a little less fussy than say hair removal cream – probably to you not much harder than applying shaving foam, simply leaving it on a little longer.

Ingredients wise it isn't too bad, not nearly as many harmful chemicals or other ingredients as you would find in shaving cream or hair removal cream, it lasts quite a while as well, as to whether it is suitable for you however, I suppose it depends on your hair growth and how easily available it is to you, I say it may be worth a try though.

Like you I hate shaving and always having a 5 o'clock shadow not matter how close I shave. I would recommend Waxing/Sugaring Beard Shadow as the root is much stronger than other area of the body. Wax/Sugaring will pull it out but it will hurt, is likely to draw blood and will damage the skin. The best two are Electrolysis and Laser, Laser are most effective on Dark Hair.

hair removal products are not recommended or advised against on some body parts ;) options beside shaving that are safe and reliable that i know of is waxing if done right or if done by someone else who knows what they are doing. Laser hair removal, but that can get pretty pricey and can take like up to 3x of doing it i heard but in the end its the most reliable because the hair will be gone for good.

Am I old-fashioned? 'Cos I immediately thought "Electrolysis" - or is that just the old name for this laser treatment others are suggesting?

Anyway - if you want to kill the hair follicle there are lots of ways to do it - you already know them - just be very, very sure you will never EVER want to grow a moustache (or even a soul patch) before you do - killing your beard follicles is a bit like chopping off a finger - once it's done, it's done (...I would have said like getting a tattoo - but even THEY are no longer as permanent as what you might be considering!)

For longer than shaving hair loss - without the permanence of root death - sugaring or waxing would be an option. Don't worry about a pain factor - that's just silly! Women regularly have VERY tender bits waxed or sugared and they go back time after time.

Do you honestly believe women are more pain tolerant than men? Nah, we would just sooner endure the discomfort of wax or sugar than the pain in the asse of having to shave all the bleedin' time!

And don't accept anyone playing the 'pain of childbirth' card to illustrate women being more pain tolerant than men! - We reach full term in pregnancy - we give birth - no choices!

I hate shaving too, in fact I haven't done so now for over 3 weeks and guess what? I have a beard!!! I wouldn't want to not be able to grow a beard so whatever other options there may be, I'll leave alone.

If you don't mind a significant degree of pain, there are options like waxing out there. But they're not permenant, so be prepated to tear the hair out of your face every few weeks.

Laser removal is an option, but now we're talking about a surgical procedure, one which is likely to both be permenant and cost you quite a bit of money.

Then there's the beard option. I'm partial to it, as I've sported one for most of the last ten years.

Plucking (tweezing), Shaving, Depilatory creams and Waxing are temporary hair removal methods.
Waxing usually lasts for 3 weeks, but it is painful.
Electrolysis and laser hair removal are "permanent" hair removal methods but are expensive and you have to find a trained professional, otherwise your skin could be damaged.

Hi. I have had this problem too until I discovered nads. Look it up on the internet. A lady invented it for her daughter who was hairy. It is natural a little expensive but it works. It has saved me a lot of money. It is made from Kiwi fruit and the woman won the best business of the year. Nads.

Well, doing laser surger or anything like that will cost you alot, you may need to do that a few times. I recommened waxing which will hurt at first but then you'll become immune to the pain. Welcome to the world of Women and their problems...
