this site many many music genres!

some I know of:
indie, emo, grunge, electro, techno, crunk, experimental, gothic, freestyle, house, new wave, pop punk, turntablism, surf, ska, phychedelic, southern rock, screamo, nu-jazz, jam band, roots music, disco house, ambient....and sooooooooo many more!

plus I found this:
Hip Hop: Basically rap, if that's easy enough to understand. A mix of rap and singing, usually accompanied by certain dance moves. Example would be music by The Black-Eyed Peas.

Metal: A type of rock, but louder and very hardcore. Some metal (heavy metal) involves screaming, but regular metal doesn't have to. Example would be bands like Nickleback, Lostprophets, Metallica, etc.

Pop: Popular music, basically anything that doesn't fit into a normal category goes here. Usually one singer accompanied by a band, but it's the singer's name who makes the song famous. (Sometimes you don't even see the band.) Examples would be Paris Hilton, Nick Lachey, Rihanna, Ciara, and Jessica Simpson. Also in this category are the boy bands: Backstreet Boys, N*SYNC, and more modern groups like The Click Five.

Rock: An actual band known for their music. Examples would be older groups like The Beatles, to newer ones like The Fray, Evanesence. A rock band consists of vocals, guitar, bass, piano, drums, etc.

Others are...

Rap: Lyrics spoken to a beat.
Reggae: A cultural music similiar to rap. Example: Sean Paul.
R&B: Very big, emotional singing. Example: Mariah Carey, Mary J Blythe.
Alternative: A mix of rock and metal, I guess you could say. Examples: The All-American Rejects, Fall Out Boy.
Classical: Music composed and played by an orchestra or ensamble.
Country: Harder to define. Basically folksy music with lyrics, sung with a country accent.

Rock, blues, country, metal, R&B, Celtic.....way too many to list here. What are you looking for? Can you narrow it down a little? Are you needing songs for a wedding, funeral, some major event? Please clarify.
