Before, it never used to do this, i know there is nothing wrong with the speakers because even when i plug in my headphones, the same sound is created in them

The sound is like an echoe, but that's because both the left and right sound is the same - which it shouldnt be.

This has happened before, but after i rebooted my pc, it went away - now it has come back again

I have tried the sound equalisers but they havent worked

Any other ideas?

I have heard of this before, the best line of attack is to do the following. This is simple now just follow carefully. Hopefully you use ME or higher O.S.

Go to the control panel

find printers and other hardware

To the left in the details box look for System - select that

now look for the hardware tab and select it

now select device manager

expand sound, video game controllers

find your hardware

right click select uninstall - yes to question it asks

now restart PC when rebooted it will find new hardware and reinstall it automatically and all should be well.

The only time I've ever heard an echo cound from my computer was when I had a microphone plugged in.
Try going into your multimedia mixer by double clicking on the wee speaker icon in your task tray, then tick the box to mute your microphone input.
Hope this helps.

Intermittent gradual breakdown of a diode, transistor or IC.

or

Corruption of sound card dll files.

or and this is most likely, you left your microphone turned ON.

Go to
Programs
Accessories
Entertainment
Sound Control
check the MUTE button on the bottom of the Microphone Volume slider.
