I already have my 10 gallon aquarium set up and ready to go. tomorrow i am getting 4 new tiger burgs(or burb? not sure!) how can you tell if they are male or female and when can you get them to breed and how can I get them to want to breed?!

I hope you have a filter and a heater for your tank. Tiger barbs are tropical fish and need a temp of 72-78 degrees. If you plan to spawn them later, you will need some bushy leafy plants for them to lay their eggs in.

You must cycle the tank in before adding a lot of fish. Only 2-3 fish for the first 2-3 weeks. This allows the beneficial bacteria to grow and build up to help with the nitrogen cycle.

Go to "About.com" and follow their links to setting up and maintaining a freshwater aquarium. They have a lot of good info there.

tiger barbs are egg layers so they probally wont breed for you, you really cant tell if they are male or female from looking at them. i would recomend getting either 3 or 5, not 4 they do better in odd numbers, but remember they get 3 inches a piece so you really dont want more fish in there is youre going to get them, the tank is to small for it
