The bar of soap will dissolve in a fairly short period of time. Some boiling water poured into the bowl will hasten the softening. A plunger can be used to clear the bar of soap before it completely softens. This whole process shouldn't take more than 12 hours depending on the size of the soap.

Good luck with your problem.

Simply let the soap soak and get soft for a day. Then use a plunger and pour a 2 gallon bucket of hot water down it for extra oomph.

I would try to snake it out ( you can get a sewer snake at Wal-mart or Home Depot). Or you can unbolt the toilet, take it outside, flip it upside-down and run the garden hose in the bottom and see if you can get the soap to come out that way. When putting the toilet back you'll want to replace the wax ring on the sewer pipe so that you don't end up with any leaks.
