I want to print some pictures of the Heart-Lung Machine from the net. Following this I want to put it on a poster board in order to display it for a project in school.

If I print a picture I see, and I put it on the board, am I infringing on copyright laws?

Here's what the US Copyright Office has to say on this matter:

"Notwithstanding the provisions of sections 106 and 106A, the fair use of a copyrighted work, including such use by reproduction in copies or phonorecords or by any other means specified by that section, for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research, is not an infringement of copyright."

Hope that helps! Good luck with your project!

It really depends on the owner.

If it's a project for school it's generally harmless if you only use it for school (crediting the source of the image and/or the author).
Come. on no one is going to sue you for using a picture as reference for some project.

Now if you were to use that picture to make money/ use out of context (like put it in a website)/ modifying it, that is most likely 85% copyright infringement

NO, unless on the site where you obtain the picture specifically states that you cannot reproduce it in any way. Good Luck

OR you can contact the WebMaster of that site, and request permission to display it in a project for school, Most will allow it just by being well mannered and asking....................

You can always check the terms of use from the site you are getting the picture from.
I think as long as you're not making money off of it or claiming it as your own, then you're okay.
