The answer to this is the same as the answer to a similar questions: Is it possible to make any real money by playing poker online OR otherwise?

The answer is yes, but it is very hard. Poker isn't economically productive, so the only way to make money is for someone else to lose it. You have to overcome the 'rake', which is the amount paid to the casino (on-line or otherwise). In the US, you are also expected to pay taxes on large gambling winnings. Therefore, on average, far fewer than 50% of the players are consistently profitable.

As a general rule, playing strategy becomes more difficult with increasing amounts wagers. Therefore, players who are successful move to higher stakes and players who lose money drop down to a lower level. You need enough self-awareness to find a level where you are consistently better than your opponents and must avoid moving up to a level where you get hammered. You also need enough of a bankroll to make it through short term periods of bad luck. Many players have insufficient bankroll or misjudge their abilities at a given level and go bankrupt.

Personally, I have played on-line for over a year, and with sign up bonuses, I have made a few thousand dollars so far. However, I have probably played so many hours that I am far below the minimum wage for the hours that I have spent.

You can win money playing online poker, it's like if someone wins money playing poker in person. There are professional poker players that play for a living. You probably won't win big money, but can probably make a profit if you know what you're doing and you play smart.

You can make real money playing online poker. I have won $900 in a $5 tournament. Over the last three years, I am ahead but I don't play online to make money. I play online for the fun. I play live tournaments to make my money.

Yes you can make real money playing on-line. There are many people who do so, but they also have an extraordinary talent and the ability to wait for the right situation to develop. Poker looks like a simple game, and on many levels it is, but it is also a hard game to master. Pot odds and chip position play an important role in winning and losing, anyone can play aces and kings, its how you play hands like 9-10 suited and ace rag that will determine if you win or lose. Some say that it is all luck and on some days it can be, but over the long run it is 80% skill and 20% luck. I have made some good money playing on-line, but i am not consistent enough to make it as a full time player, i think I'll keep my day job.

Yes. I entered a $100 freeroll, won, paid $50 first place, used that as stake on real money tables and have been at it ever since...I probably skim equivalent of about £40 a month avg off of my account, aiming to leave my $50 original steak in. 14 months and counting, I don't play that often and go safe with lower stake tourneys but am sure I could make more if I was braver and had more time for it.

Yes, I turned $35 into $490 only to go down to $260 which I cashed out. In a previous time, I turned $50 bucks to $500. I did have one losing session where I lost $120. Do the math, I still came up. You have to be aware about how you play online though since there are many bad players. Yous strategy has to be different then if you were playing smart solid players. email me if you want me to elaborate on the strategy. In general, you want to play less hands but play those hands more aggressives since these idiots will call an all in raise with middle pair. Good luck.
