My friends Truck is 170 Hp 240 Lb Torque
My Truck is 190 Hp 188 Lb Torque

They are the same truck, but his engine is a 4.3L V6 and mine is a 3.2 L V6.
He beat me bad in a race, but his truck only goes up to 80 and mine goes up to 120.

The point is that I have a better Hp/weight ratio, so whats his ratio then?

The gearing in his truck is much closer and has a lower final drive ratio. I had a similar situation once. I had a 250 cc Can-Am dirt bike, 6 speed, top end of about 100. But I paid my rent more than one time racing street bikes with three times the displacement and a top end twice mine. It's not the power you've got, it's how fast you can get it out. Probably the easiest thing you can do is get a beefier torque converter and a shift kit. You lose some off the top end, but...

The torque ratings on his truck are higher than yours. Don't know what kind of race you both ran, but torque is what gets a car (or truck) moving. You might notice many cars come from the factory these days with higher torque ratings than horsepower ratings. The 20 hp difference won't mean much against the 52 ft/lbs of torque, especially if the trucks are close in weight.

Sounds like the gear ratio on the rear end is different. He's faster starting off then you but his top speed is slower so I would say it's something to do with gear ratios.
