I have recently read the Catcher in the Rye, but did not really understand it. Therefore, can some one explain to me what the book was about... thanks!

Also, my HW is how the slang is used in the book. So I understand it is used to make the character's inner expression seem more realistic but can anyone add on to this... or is this fine?
