um... SOME of the stories in the 1,001 nights are suitable for children, and come from both persian and arabic sources. not ALL of them, to be sure, are for kids, but some. AND NOT THE BURTON TRANSLATION!

Yes, so many of them. You can find some good ones in the Arabian Nights. There are so many also, Like The Iraqi Stories, and etc.. But I guess it's difficult to find this last book. There's no more stories has been translated from Arabic, or Persian, as I know, but try to find things like: Stories from Afghanistan.
The Arabian Nights also include some tales with an Indian and Persian origins.
