Can anyone explain specifically what it is? Or is it just a fancy generic name for just about any men's dress shoe?

Wish I could draw you a picture. It's a men dress shoe with this design on the toe and top of the shoe - kind of curves down on either side of the toe, then there are these "holes". Really classy and classic style of shoe, and lots of gents find them really comfy. Look best in black.

It's hard to explain, but there is a layer of extra leather sewn onto the tip in a winglike pattern with small perforations in it. In the center, it is pointed, and it flows out from there like wings somewhat. This is a dressy type of shoe. I've had them in oxfords and slip-ons in black, cordovan, brown and tan. Two-tone ones are called spectators.
