Artists have lost the skill they once had, and people who buy crap believe it is precious. I recall a story about the "Great Pat Boom" in which ET's bought various items from earthlings. One bought a cowpat. Soon, prices soared, and everyone wanted one hanging on his wall. Jackson Pollock's so-called "paintings" are Pollock Pats.
