don't have rude sales people who sit on their cell phone the whole time and act like you are bothering them when you want to pay. be friendly with the customers treat them like they just walked into your living room. If i encounter a really nice salesperson/cashier i will tell people because they really are far and few between these days. referrals are the best and cheapest form of advertising!
Don't act like everything looks great on them when they come out of a dressing room i hate when sales people act like they've had a heart attack when they see me come out, we all know it's just because you want to make the sale.
Accomodate your customers, answer all their questions honestly and with a sense of realism. Don't be fake, just be real and personable.
Play some good music that your target market will appreciate, makes shopping a lot more fun.
do something different that your immediate competition isn't doing, offer them something special for coming into your store maybe a make-up sample or some tea or water. you said you will be selling make-up, why don't you offer to apply the eye shadow you saw them looking at so they can see what it looks like on? or even offer mini-make overs from your product line. be innovative.
Good Luck!

I would suggest being helpful but not pushy. I'm not sure how the culture there differs from the usa. I think to be a great salesperson, you have to be able to read a person, be part therapist, part friend. Every person has different needs and different ways of shopping - I would be flexible in my sales approach. You could also offer a personal shopper service free for those really wanting indepth service and help with decisions. That will bring in more people just from word of mouth.
Be sure to have staff trained in body types what goes best on what body.
The better a person looks in an outfit, the more compliments- thus resulting in more business. The client feels great, etc. Offer monthly make overs, opening specials. If you have a web site, have peopel register their email and then you could give away things every now and then through a drawing.
Contact your customers through email about sales. when things come in that they might like or in their size- color etc.
Then they feel a more personal side of the shopping and that they are taken care of.
Just my thoughts.

i like when they say, "Hi I'm (name) and if you need anything at all, I'll be here."

that way you know the person cares about you and wants to help you, but you dont feel pressured to try things on or buy things and such because theyre not on your back.

I like when they get me the size I need, and help me decide on things and don't just try to get me to spend the most money possible.

sometimes, when i am holding a few things I want to try on later, a salesperson asks me if i want those things put in a change room to try on, and then they put the clothes in a change room so that my hands are free to look at other clothes.

they are issues that could purely be got here across after 1000's and 1000's of trials. and of direction, strict limit ought to be in place. besides the indisputable fact that, because of the fact the inspiration of technology is often changing with the aid of new discoveries, we could desire to even have sympathy to the drug enterprise as properly. they are no longer miracle makers, they simply attempt to make earnings by advertising something that they "think of" ought to help human beings. think of the international devoid of antibiotics and different medicine, what proportion human beings might could die? If we agree that technology can get replaced, the drug enterprise ought to no longer have an excuse of increasing medicine costs because of the fact of regulation journey.additionally if we glance on the different area that has used the socialist gadget it has slowed down and did no longer stay as much as its Utopian promise. No gadget is acceptable yet open and loose industry is the perfect available.

It is so hard to say what you need. Excellent customer service, although most people do not want to be approached, just having someone in sight to help when needed is a major plus. And service with a smile!

For me I just like to be waited on. I try on some jeans and if they don't fit, I want some one else to go out on the floor to retrieve another pair for me! This saves me time. Plus they can usually find the size faster than I can.

The most beautiful sound to anyone is to hear their own name! Also, be complimentary and make small talk. People will give you lots of clues about themselve just by looking at them.

Make sure you don't follow them around the whole time! At the beginning, greet them with a friendly smile and say "Welcome to '_____,' (<-- your store) is there anything in particular you are looking for?" and be very VERY polite. If someone is rude to you, pretend they didn't even say anything. Good Luck! =]

give them ideas on what items would go well together, call them by name, greet them with a smile, compliment them on their choices...
